TURBT bladder tumour removal
TURBT is used to diagnose and treat bladder tumours. It is often part of a wider bladder cancer assessment and follow-up pathway, especially when symptoms such as blood in the urine require investigation.
Bladder assessment
Cystoscopy and imaging may be used to assess suspected bladder tumours.
Endoscopic treatment
TURBT is performed through the urinary tract without external cuts.
Histology review
Results guide future surveillance or treatment planning.
What this pathway may involve
- Assessment of symptoms such as blood in the urine
- Cystoscopy and imaging where required
- Endoscopic removal or biopsy of bladder tumour
- Histology review and follow-up planning
