Laser Kidney Stone Treatment in Birmingham

Kidney stone treatment depends on the size, position and symptoms caused by the stone. Mr Syed Ali Shahzad provides private assessment and treatment planning for kidney stones, including ureteroscopy and laser stone treatment where appropriate.

Stone symptoms

Severe loin pain, recurrent stone episodes, blood in the urine or infection risk may need specialist review.

Imaging review

CT, ultrasound or previous scan reports help guide whether monitoring or active treatment is needed.

Treatment planning

Options may include observation, ureteroscopy, laser fragmentation and prevention advice.

Private kidney stone treatment planning

Some kidney stones pass without surgery, while others can cause blockage, infection, severe pain or repeated symptoms. Treatment decisions depend on stone size, location, kidney drainage, infection risk and the patient’s overall health.

What assessment may involve

  • Review of pain episodes, previous stones and current symptoms
  • Review of CT, ultrasound or other imaging
  • Urine and blood tests where clinically appropriate
  • Discussion of ureteroscopy and laser fragmentation where suitable
  • Advice on reducing future stone risk

Urgent kidney stone symptoms

Seek urgent help if stone pain is severe or uncontrolled, if you have fever, shivers, vomiting, feel very unwell or are unable to pass urine.
